In detail

How Bulk data import works

What kinds of files and records can I import into Dino ERP?

You can import XLSX, XLSM, XLS, CSV and TSV files. Customers, suppliers, leads, products, opening balances and opening stock are covered, with each entity applying its own commit rules.

  • XLSX, XLSM, XLS, CSV, TSV
  • Customers, suppliers, leads, products
  • Opening balances and opening stock

How does column mapping work?

After you choose a sheet and header row, you see sample cells and map each source column to a Dino ERP field. Auto-mapping suggests matches, you can save mapping templates for repeat imports, and custom fields can be mapped where the entity supports them.

How does validation and duplicate checking work?

Rows are validated before saving, with field-level errors shown in context. The importer identifies duplicates both against existing records and within the file itself.

  • Row-level validation
  • Existing and in-file duplicates
  • Branch and permission checks

Can I fix problems before committing?

Yes. The review table is editable: correct values, remove duplicate rows and choose create, update or skip where the entity allows it. Nothing is written until you commit, and you see progress and results afterwards.

Who is allowed to import, and is it audited?

Import is gated by permissions, and branch rules are checked per row so users cannot load data into branches they cannot access. Created and updated records follow the normal audit trail.

How do opening balances and opening stock reach the ledger?

Opening-balance and opening-stock imports go through the finance and inventory engines rather than writing tables directly, so balances post as proper journal entries and stock ledger rows.

FAQ

Bulk data import: questions buyers ask

Can I import from my old accounting software?

If you can export to Excel or CSV, you can map those columns into Dino ERP. There are no direct connectors to specific legacy products.

Is anything saved during the preview?

No. Nothing is saved until you choose to import after reviewing the rows.

Can I reuse a mapping for next month’s file?

Yes. Mapping templates can be saved and reused.

Will importing create duplicate customers?

The importer flags duplicates against existing records and within the file, and lets you skip or update instead of creating.

Can I import transactions such as historical invoices?

The importer covers master data, opening balances and opening stock. Historical invoices are not part of the bulk import.
