Manufacturing

Plan it, make it, ship it

Bills of materials, routings and work centres, production orders with shop-floor confirmations, and MRP that tells you what to buy.

What is Manufacturing in Dino ERP?

Manufacturing in Dino ERP lets you define multi-level bills of materials, routings and work centres, release production orders, confirm operations on the shop floor and receive finished goods into stock. MRP runs turn demand and forecasts into purchase and production suggestions. It is self-hosted and ships with source code.

In detail

How Manufacturing works

How does Dino ERP model products to be manufactured?

Products are defined by multi-level bills of materials (BOMs) and routings that list operations at work centres. A BOM can contain sub-assemblies, which have their own BOMs. Work centres hold the capacity and costing information used by scheduling and production costing.

  • Multi-level BOMs
  • Routings with ordered operations
  • Work centres

How do production orders work from release to finished goods?

A production order is created for a product and quantity, released, and then worked through its operations on the shop floor. Operators confirm quantities per operation, record scrap against scrap reasons, and the system receives finished goods into stock and tracks yield and cost.

  • Shop-floor queue and confirmations
  • Scrap reasons and yield
  • Production costing
  • Component issue and finished-goods receipt

Does Dino ERP include MRP and demand planning?

Yes. MRP runs read demand, forecasts and current stock, then produce suggestions that you review before they become purchase or production documents. Demand forecasts can be maintained for planning items.

  • Demand forecasts
  • Production reports

Can I schedule against capacity?

Finite scheduling and capacity planning are included, so operations are placed against work-centre availability rather than assumed unlimited capacity. A Gantt chart view is not built; scheduling is presented in lists and capacity views.

How are design changes and subcontracting handled?

Engineering change orders move through submit, approve and implement, so a BOM or routing change is controlled and recorded. Subcontracting lets you raise a purchase order directly from a production operation when the work is done by an outside party.

  • Engineering change orders with approval
  • Subcontracting purchase orders from an operation

How does manufacturing connect to the rest of the system?

Component issues and finished-goods receipts use the same inventory engine and stock ledger as the rest of Dino ERP, and quality inspection plans can run on production. MRP suggestions create purchase documents in the purchasing module. Permissions and branch scope apply to every production document.

FAQ

Manufacturing: questions buyers ask

Does Dino ERP support multi-level BOMs?

Yes. A bill of materials can include sub-assemblies, each with its own BOM and routing.

Is there a Gantt chart for production scheduling?

No. Finite scheduling and capacity planning are available, but a Gantt chart view has not been built.

Can I record scrap and yield?

Yes. Scrap is recorded against scrap reasons during operation confirmation, and yield is reported per production order.

Does it handle outsourced operations?

Yes. You can create a subcontracting purchase order from a production operation.

Can I run quality inspections on production output?

Yes. Quality inspection plans can be applied to production as well as goods receipts, and failed lots can be placed on hold.

Do I need extra hardware or licences for the shop floor?

No extra licences. The shop-floor queue and confirmations run in a web browser, so any tablet or PC on your network can be used.
