In detail

How Subscriptions works

What kinds of plans can I bill with Dino ERP?

Dino ERP supports flat-fee plans, per-seat plans and usage-based plans. Usage plans rely on meters that record consumption, which is then rated at billing time. Customers are attached to plans through subscriptions.

  • Flat plans
  • Per-seat plans
  • Usage plans with meters
  • Subscriptions per customer

How do billing runs create invoices?

A billing run goes through the subscriptions that are due and creates the invoices, including any rated usage. The invoices are normal finance invoices, so they post to the ledger and appear in receivables like any others. Billing runs are recorded so you can see what was invoiced.

  • Invoices created in bulk
  • Usage rated from meters
  • Invoices post to the ledger

What happens when a customer upgrades or downgrades?

A plan change is recorded as its own change on the subscription, and the charges are prorated for the part of the period affected. Planned price changes can also be applied to plans across your subscriber base. This keeps invoices accurate without manual credit and re-invoice steps.

  • Plan changes with proration
  • Price changes across plans
  • Change history on the subscription

How does dunning work, and does Dino ERP store customer cards?

Dunning chases overdue subscription invoices according to a dunning policy and includes a pay-now link in each reminder. Customers pay through your Stripe, Razorpay or PayPal account using that link. Dino ERP does not store cards and does not charge them automatically.

  • Dunning policies
  • Pay-now links in reminders
  • No stored cards, no auto-charge

Does Dino ERP handle revenue recognition for subscriptions?

Yes. Revenue from subscription invoices is recognised over the service period using revenue schedules, rather than all at once on the invoice date. This is posted through the finance engine, so it follows the same fiscal period and approval controls as other accounting.

What subscription metrics are available?

Dino ERP provides MRR and churn metrics computed from your subscriptions. They help you track growth and cancellations over time.

FAQ

Subscriptions: questions buyers ask

Does Dino ERP charge customers’ cards automatically?

No. It does not store cards or auto-charge. Dunning sends pay-now links, and customers pay through your own payment gateway account.

Can I bill by usage?

Yes. Define a meter, record usage against it and attach it to a usage-based plan; billing runs rate the usage and invoice it.

Are plan changes prorated?

Yes. Upgrades and downgrades are recorded as plan changes with proration.

Which payment gateways can customers use on pay links?

Stripe, Razorpay and PayPal, using your own account with the provider.

Can I see MRR and churn?

Yes. The subscriptions module includes MRR and churn metrics.

Is this a hosted subscription service?

No. It is part of Dino ERP, which you buy once from TechDino and self-host with the full source code.
