In detail

How Point of sale works

What can I do with the point of sale module in Dino ERP?

You can set up terminals, cashier operators and sessions, then sell at the counter by scanning or searching products, taking payment and printing the receipt. Returns, promotions, loyalty, gift vouchers and end-of-day reconciliation are in the same module. Every sale draws on the same product, price and stock data as the rest of Dino ERP.

  • Terminals and cashier operators
  • Cashier sessions with opening and closing
  • Barcode scanning and product search
  • Split payments and returns
  • POS reports

Can the POS keep selling when the internet is down?

Yes. The POS supports offline selling: sales taken without a connection are held on the device and synced to the server in the background when the connection returns. The sync is conflict-safe, so a sale is not posted twice, and a sync monitor shows what is waiting and what failed.

  • Offline selling in the browser-based POS
  • Background sync when connectivity returns
  • Conflict-safe replay of queued sales
  • Sync monitor for pending and failed items

How does Dino ERP handle payments and card terminals at the till?

You configure payment methods such as cash, card and others, and a single sale can be split across several of them. Card payments are taken on an external card terminal and recorded against the sale; Dino ERP does not connect to a card payment gateway from the POS. The payment totals then feed end-of-day reconciliation.

  • Configurable payment methods
  • Split payments across methods
  • Card payments via an external terminal
  • Per-session payment totals

How do promotions, loyalty and gift vouchers work?

Promotions apply discounts at checkout using the rules you define, loyalty lets customers earn and redeem points, and gift vouchers can be sold and redeemed at any of your stores. Because customers and vouchers live in the central system, they are shared across branches rather than tied to one till.

  • Promotions applied at checkout
  • Loyalty points earned and redeemed
  • Gift vouchers shared across stores

What controls stop cashiers from misusing the till?

Cashiers sign in as operators with limited rights, and sensitive actions can require a manager override. Access to POS screens is governed by Dino ERP’s permission keys and branch scope, and POS activity is recorded in the audit trail. Sessions must be closed and reconciled at the end of the day.

  • Operator accounts for cashiers
  • Manager overrides
  • Permission and branch-scope checks
  • Audit trail on records

How does end-of-day reconciliation work?

At the end of a shift or day, you close the session and compare the expected totals for each payment method with what was counted. The end-of-day process records the result so a store manager can see which tills balanced and which did not. POS reports then summarise sales by period and store.

How does the POS connect to inventory and finance?

POS sales draw on the same products, prices and warehouse stock as the rest of Dino ERP, so stock levels reflect what the stores sell. Each store branch can run its own terminals and sessions under the single company, and sales flow into the finance module through the standard posting engines.

FAQ

Point of sale: questions buyers ask

Does the POS work offline?

Yes. Sales taken while offline are queued on the device and synced in the background when the connection returns. Sync is conflict-safe, and a sync monitor shows pending and failed items.

Can I take card payments in Dino ERP POS?

Card payments are taken on an external card terminal and recorded against the sale. The POS does not integrate with a card gateway, so you need your own terminal and acquirer.

Can I use it for more than one store?

Yes. Dino ERP runs one company with any number of branches, and each store branch can have its own terminals, operators and sessions. Loyalty and vouchers are shared across stores.

Does it support split payments and returns?

Yes. A sale can be paid with several payment methods, and returns are handled in the POS module.

Is there a native mobile POS app?

No. The POS is a responsive web app that works offline in the browser. Native apps are on the roadmap, not in the product today.

Do I get the source code of the POS?

Yes. Dino ERP is a one-time purchase from TechDino with full source code, self-hosted on your own server, and you can white-label it.
