In detail

How Inventory & WMS works

How does Dino ERP track stock across warehouses and branches?

Every receipt, delivery, transfer and adjustment writes to an append-only inventory ledger, and per-warehouse balances (on hand, reserved, average cost, value) are maintained from it. Stock can be held in several warehouses and locations, optionally by batch or serial number. Negative stock is rejected unless your settings allow it.

  • Multi-warehouse stock with locations inside each warehouse
  • Batches and serial numbers
  • Reservations against sales orders
  • Stock ledger you can filter by product, warehouse and date

Which valuation methods does the inventory module support?

You choose FIFO or weighted-average costing in company settings. Stock value is calculated by the same engine that posts to finance, so the inventory report and the INVENTORY account in the ledger agree.

  • FIFO or weighted average
  • Value per warehouse and product
  • Cost visible only to users with the cost permission

Can I move stock between branches and count it?

Yes. Transfers move stock through a transit warehouse, so goods in transit are visible and not counted in either branch. Adjustments and cycle counts correct differences, and reorder rules flag items that fall below their minimum. Adjustments can be routed through an approval workflow.

  • Transfers through transit
  • Stock adjustments with reasons
  • Cycle counts
  • Reorder rules

What warehouse management (WMS) features are included?

The WMS layer adds zones, bins, product profiles and putaway rules, so receiving can direct stock to a bin. Outbound work is organised into waves and pick lists with barcode scanning, then packed into cartons. Kits and kit work orders, cross-docks and dock appointments are included as well.

  • Zones, bins and putaway rules
  • Waves, pick lists and scanning
  • Packing with carton types
  • Kits, cross-docks, dock appointments
  • Label templates

Can Dino ERP print carrier shipping labels and track parcels?

Yes, through Shippo, Shiprocket and Delhivery. You connect your own carrier account, generate labels from a shipment, and receive tracking updates by webhook. Without a carrier account you can still record shipments and run your own delivery runs.

  • Shippo, Shiprocket and Delhivery
  • Tracking by webhook
  • Delivery runs with vehicles and drivers

How does inventory connect to sales, purchasing and finance?

A goods receipt adds stock and posts Dr Inventory / Cr GRNI; a delivery removes stock and posts Dr COGS / Cr Inventory. Sales returns, purchase returns and stock adjustments post their own entries. Access is controlled by permissions and branch scope, so a warehouse user only sees the branches they are allowed to work in.

FAQ

Inventory & WMS: questions buyers ask

Does Dino ERP support batch and serial number tracking?

Yes. Products can be tracked by batch or by serial number, and the ledger records which batch or serial moved in each transaction. Quality holds can block a suspect batch from being used.

Can it handle multiple warehouses and many branches?

Yes. One installation runs one company with any number of branches, and each branch can have its own warehouses. Users see stock for the branches their role permits.

Does it support barcode scanning?

Yes. The WMS includes scanning for picking and related warehouse tasks, so a handheld or phone browser can confirm what has been picked.

Do I need my own Shiprocket, Shippo or Delhivery account?

Yes. Carrier labels and tracking use your own account with the carrier, and you enter those credentials in the integration settings. Dino ERP does not resell carrier services.

Do stock movements update the accounts automatically?

Yes. Receipts, deliveries, returns and adjustments post double-entry journals using the inventory, COGS and GRNI system accounts, so stock value ties to the ledger.

Can I import my opening stock?

Yes. Opening-stock import is part of the bulk Excel and CSV import tools, with a review step before anything is saved.
